David Bayard is currently pursuing a Performer Diploma in saxophone performance at Indiana University with Dr. Otis Murphy. David completed both his Bachelor and Master’s degrees at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.  As a soloist, David has competed in several competitions and was featured as a soloist with the Indiana University Orchestra after winning the JSoM Woodwind Concerto Competition. David is currently the soprano saxophonist in the award-winning Soma Quartet, having competed and performed in numerous competitions and venues around the Midwest region.

While at IU, David has participated in a variety of ensembles including the Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Philharmonic and Concert Orchestras, and the New Music Ensemble. During his undergraduate degree, he was awarded the performer’s certificate (the highest honor given to a student performer at the JSoM) and was also a finalist in the United States Marine Band saxophone audition in 2018.
