David Bayard is currently pursuing a Performer Diploma in saxophone performance at Indiana University with Dr. Otis Murphy. David completed both his Bachelor and Masterโ€™s degrees at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.  As a soloist, David has competed in several competitions and was featured as a soloist with the Indiana University Orchestra after winning the JSoM Woodwind Concerto Competition. David is currently the soprano saxophonist in the award-winning Soma Quartet, having competed and performed in numerous competitions and venues around the Midwest region.

While at IU, David has participated in a variety of ensembles including the Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Philharmonic and Concert Orchestras, and the New Music Ensemble. During his undergraduate degree, he was awarded the performerโ€™s certificate (the highest honor given to a student performer at the JSoM) and was also a finalist in the United States Marine Band saxophone audition in 2018.
